01Who we are

Gale is a brand of Gale Meter, Inc. ("Gale," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect on galemeter.com, why we collect it and the choices you have. When the Gale app opens to beta testers, it will come with its own privacy policy covering the app.

02What we collect

• When you join the Gale community: your email address, and the date you confirmed it. If you sign up for an event, we'll also ask for your name and the details needed to welcome you there.
• When you contact us: your name, email address, organization (if you share one), the topic you choose and your message.
• When you visit the site: basic technical information your browser sends automatically, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view and the site that referred you. Our website host uses cookies needed to run the site and to count visits in aggregate.
• When you open our emails: our email service tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we know what's useful to you.

03What we don't ask for

We don't ask for health information on this website. Please don't include medical details in a message to us. If you need medical help, talk with your healthcare provider, and in an emergency call 911.

04How we use it

• To confirm you've joined the Gale community and send you community news, invitations to virtual and in-person events, and updates about the private beta.
• To reply to your message and route it to the right person on our crew.
• To keep the site secure, prevent spam and understand, in aggregate, how people find and use it.

05What we never do

We never sell your personal information. We never use it for targeted advertising. We never share it with anyone except the service providers who help us run this site, and only so they can do that job.

06Who helps us

Our website, forms and email list are hosted by GoDaddy, which processes this information on our behalf. Messages you send through the contact form are delivered to our team's inbox.

07How long we keep it

• Community list: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.
• Messages: for up to 24 months after our last reply, unless we need them longer to complete a partnership or meet a legal obligation.

08Your choices and rights

• Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. One tap and you're off the list.
• You can ask to see, correct, download or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email [email protected] from the address you used, and we'll respond within 30 days. We won't treat you differently for asking.
• If you live in California or another state with its own privacy law, you have these rights under that law too.
• Your browser may let you send a "Do Not Track" signal. Our site doesn't currently respond to it, and we don't allow other companies to track you across websites through our site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.

09Keeping it safe

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the site, limit access to the people on our crew who need it, and use strong, unique passwords with two-step sign-in on the accounts that hold your information.

10Children

Gale is built for adults. This site is not directed to anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

11Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we'll tell people on our email list before it takes effect.
